Our brain is an amazing organ and when developing new ideas it needs 2 things

When we set out to think about new ideas, our brain switches into thinking mode. This is a necessary function to focus our thoughts and concentrate on the task in front of us. However, it is important to recognize that this focus can tend to lead us down well-trodden paths of thought, causing us to repeat the same ideas in variations.

This phenomenon occurs because our brain inhibits certain areas in order to fulfill the desired task. These inhibitions are important in order to avoid distractions and to concentrate on the task at hand. However, this can lead to us being trapped in a thought loop and having difficulty developing innovative ideas.

A certain level of excitement is required to promote new ideas. This arousal can be triggered by various stimulated sources and serves to overcome the inhibitions in our brain. However, if we experience too much excitement, we can fall into a state of panic that actually inhibits creative thinking. It is therefore important to find a balance between inhibition and excitement.

Finding the balance so that new ideas can emerge

It is also crucial to recognize that the ideal balance is very individual and can vary from person to person. Some people find their most creative moments when they are relaxed, be it on a walk, in the shower or shopping. Others, on the other hand, are better able to generate ideas within a structured framework.

In order to develop ideas in a group, it can be helpful to set a clear framework. This framework gives the participants a clear task and limits the thought process to a specific topic. It is also important to quiet the inner critic in order to enable free and open thinking.

Creative methods, such as writing jokes, can also be used to encourage the creative process. By allowing yourself to generate ten ideas without the pressure of brilliance, you can overcome inhibitions and stimulate the flow of ideas. The ideas can later be evaluated and selected, which can trigger relaxation in your own brain.

In addition, adding tension and friction to the thought process can help foster innovative ideas. The creative spark can be ignited by introducing unexpected contexts or perspectives.

Finally, it is important to limit the creative process in terms of time in order to focus the conversation on the essentials. With a clear task, a free way of thinking and a balance between inhibition and excitement, we can develop new ideas more effectively and unleash our creativity.

The video not only offers exciting insights into how the brain works, but above all provides practical tips and exercises that can help anyone to think more creatively and generate new ideas.
